Extruded Polystyrene Thermal Insulation Board (XPS Board) is a rigid foam plastic sheet made from polystyrene resin as the basic raw material, blended with other raw and auxiliary materials and polymers, heated and mixed with catalyst injection, and then manufactured through extrusion and compression molding process. Its scientific name is Extruded Polystyrene Foam for Thermal Insulation, or XPS for short. 
XPS Board has a unique and nearly perfect closed-cell honeycomb internal structure. The formation of this structure is due to a special extrusion molding process, in which the polystyrene raw material under high temperature and high pressure and the action of catalysts, the internal rapid foaming and the formation of countless tiny and independent of each other, closed air bubbles, these bubbles are closely arranged, like a honeycomb, constitute the main structure of the XPS Board. On the surface of the board, due to the extrusion process of extrusion and molding, a uniform, flat and relatively dense hard film is formed, which not only provides protection for the internal honeycomb structure, making it less susceptible to damage by external physical factors, but also enhances the overall strength and stability of the board to a certain extent.

Exterior walls: Fireproof Class A rock wool boards or foam cement boards (durable). Roof: XPS extruded boards (waterproof and pressure-resistant) or polyurethane spray (seamless insulation). Interior walls: Lightweight EPS boards or fiberglass wool (space-saving).

2.How are fire resistance ratings classified?

Class A: Non-combustible (e.g., rock wool, foam cement).

Class B1: Flame-retardant (e.g., fire-resistant EPS/PU).

For homes, at least Class B1 is recommended; public buildings require Class A.
